On February 15th, we will reconvene over Zoom. That session will be dedicated to the notion of “the subject.”
We will visit two texts on “the subject” that seem absolutely essential for understanding politics today.
The first is the infamous echoing of Wilhelm Reich’s scream that the masses were not deceived, but in fact, fought for their own oppression.
The second are the pages in A Thousand Plateaus that distinguish the social models of subjection common to Althusser (which is to say, Lacan or Butler) from a cybernetic machinic enslavement as previously outlined by Lewis Mumford.
